Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin pan with paper liners and set aside.
In a bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together.
In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, butter, and the Vertage cream cheese together until combined.
Add the flour mixture to wet ingredients until smooth, breaking up any clumps. Once smooth, fold in apples.
Divide the batter evenly between the muffin cups. Sprinkle the tops with coarse sugar for extra sweetness (optional).
Bake for 20-25 minutes. Insert a toothpick to the center of a muffin to check readiness. Once cooked all the way through, remove muffins from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool.
